A Parks Charitable Trust could increase community involvement and offer more and different volunteering opportunities, contributing to the parks’ upkeep. People volunteer for many reasons, and volunteering differs from park to park.
What role should communities and volunteers play in parks?
Newcastle’s parks currently have about 200 volunteers whose time, energy and enthusiasm helps us to look after our parks. Having more volunteers is a way of getting the community more involved and will help keep our parks well looked after. Volunteering also gives individuals new opportunities to gain skills and exercise.
