It is important to decide what part communities play in making decisions that affect Newcastle’s parks. On one hand, deep community involvement ensures parks reflect the wishes of communities, but on the other, this can take time, money and be difficult to organise across the city.
Community involvement and ownership would be an aspiration for a Parks Charitable Trust. Aside from communities’ involvement in maintenance, communities would also need to be able to influence decision in the running of our parks. This presents significant difficulties considering the scale of the city and the number of parks and green spaces.
