What activities should parks support?

Parks have a positive impact on our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Parks are also places for learning about wildlife and growing food. A Parks Charitable Trust could receive funds in return for offering activities to increase communities’ health and wellbeing, education and for the use of park facilities.

How could a Parks Charitable Trust contribute to increasing community health, education and wellbeing?

"Different areas should be preserved for different priorities, so for example, Havannah and Three Hills Nature Reserve. Zoning can be an effective way of balancing priorities, creating sections of a park that have priorities for wild life versus activities/exercise." — Worskhop Team One

"Parks are already successfully delivering activities with health benefits – such as the Anglian club in Leazes Park). Any future Parks Charitable Trust should build on the current successes and learn from them. A Parks Charitable Trust should be bringing in more staff with diverse skills set to increase a diversify activities. However, all parks are different so a tailored approach would be needed when thinking about the range of activities that could be further developed." — Workshop Team
